3FE Coffee Price Board

Hand-screened Price Board for 3FE Coffee, Dublin through The Small Print. Water-based ink on 6mm birch ply.
Early roughs used Trade Gothic font, later changed to Gothic 720.
SRA2 separations printed on 90gsm trace paper to give slightly rough definition when transferred to screens.
Pre-cut 6mm birch ply tiles laid out ready for printing on self-adhesive roll.
Ready to print!
I had to lay a heavy card sheet under the tiles to keep them together - a bit like a baking tray of biscuits.
Printed tiles drying.
After the tiles were printed the edges were ink-rolled with a small skirting roller. This took quite a while...
Blue and red tiles for food items...
...red tiles for coffee titles and prices.
I used Sicotex water based ink which I normally use for tshirts and paper, it went down really well on the birch ply without any spreading or too much soaking.
The backing board is a brushed aluminium clad 20mm ply sheet with birch rails for the tiles to easily slide in and out of. Thanks to my good friend Andy Godfrey for taking care of the carpentry end of things on this project.
