What if a font could travel? What if a font could be adapted to a culture?
We imagine that Helvetica left his native Switzerland to undertake its first trip to Latin America coming to Peru, there toured small towns and big cities visited their markets, streets and fell in love with the popular graphic culture, and finally decided to stay in Lima.
HelveChicha is an interpretation of popular graphic lettering made by hundreds of artists from all over Peru and South America. An art that challenges a difficult time where large format printers and vinyl adhesives are gradually eliminating the beautiful art of handmade signs and removing the graphic identity of the streets and markets.
We want to honor the art of sign painters with this typeface, created on the basis of one of the most recognized and beloved typeface, Helvetica.

¿Qué pasaría si un tipografía podría viajar? ¿Qué pasaría si una fuente podría adaptarse a una cultura?
Nos imaginamos que Helvetica dejo su Suiza natal para emprender su primer viaje a Latinoamérica llegando a Perú, allí recorrió sus pequeños pueblos y grandes ciudades visitó sus mercados, calles y se enamoró de la cultura gráfica popular, y finalmente decidió quedarse a vivir en Lima.
Helvechicha es una interpretación de letras gráficas populares hecha por cientos de artistas de todo Perú y Sudamérica. Un arte que desafía un momento difícil donde las impresoras de grán formato y vinilos adhesivos estan poco a poco eliminando el hermoso arte de los letreros hechos a mano y quitando la identidad gráfica de las calles y mercados.
Queremos hacer un homenaje a estos artistas del pincel con esta tipografía, creada sobre la base de una de las tipografía más reconocidas y adoradas, la Helvetica.
